dm370 project 1 - ideas

1.) things in little rock: the first schools i went to - shooting locations where i had some of my earliest memories. the playgrounds might be completely different now.

2.) the church i was raised in - maybe record the congregation reciting the catholic creed (in mumbles) and lay the audio track over a video tour of the places in the building i remember most and other places from my childhood like my backyard, the soccer fields, jr high, high school, in a sort of timeline by age. audio track could fade to barely audible by the end.

3.) outdoor spots: shoot the trek up pinnacle mountain, maybe looking at my feet or some weird angle the whole time until reaching the top where you can see most of little rock. or bike trails in bartlett - create a helmet cam.

4.) the place inside the body. first person view of normal daily activity/routines. maybe some sort of internal dialog voiceover that seems disconnected from the things that are happening on the screen, as if the mind were not controlling the body, the way i felt the first time i got high.. that was some scary shit.

5.) find home movie footage of my house from a long time ago and recreate the same angles and shots from that footage in my house today. play both simultaneously side by side

Seriously do the last one. A first person view would be great to experience. As for the voice over...if you can pull off a Morgan Freeman, then the audience will really get connected. You're looking for a voice that would be disconnected right? Maybe you could rip the audio track and place it with your video for example. You also mentioned being high. Who would expect Morgan Freeman to talk about penguins in a life where there are none?

I think you have some interesting ideas here which could potentially grow. Your first idea of shooting locations of early memories sounds interesting, and you could possibly even contrast the way those places look NOW with photos or narrated descriptions of the way they once looked--the way YOU remember them.

I think the third one would be strongest mainly because of the audio. Try thinking of some ways to make the visuals more interesting since you want mainly one point of view. I like the helmet cam idea.

The church idea sounds the best to me. I like ripping on boring church crap. I wish I had thought of that.

I like the third and last one. The outdoor idea would be visually interesting. The last idea would would be a neat experiment. It could even be continued as a bigger project in the future.

i really like the first concept. Two different parts of your familiar place, played together, i think will give a rough glimpse into the feeling of that place for you, and maybe even creating a bit of tension for the viewer.

The second idea sounds interesting with the church and back through some of your childhood memorys. but i think more need to be added to it to get your message across more effectively.

I like the second idea. it could be a nauseating experience for the viewer to have to endure a shaky camera shooting your feet in an outdoor environment. or maybe, shooting your feet in the church you grew up during the service even.

i like your head cam idea. Id just like to see the invention i guess. Other ideas seem to flashback to your youth. If you dialogued childhood stories while riding the bike, I would feel like I was inside your head. Now that's scary......
